DIY/Crafts

Welcome to the DIY and Crafts Projects page.  This page contains posts of projects I have done for both my home and my family. Please keep in mind I am relatively new to blogging but I am working on getting as many projects online as I can.  Stay tuned...

You will see some furniture re-purposing such as taking an old piece from a thrift store and seeing it transformed into a new statement piece for your home.  Or how about a old, ugly mirror that I transformed into a monogrammed piece of art for my wall?

You could even see some recycling projects from plastic containers, cardboard boxes, or broken down pallets.  Every post will be something different to explore.

How to make a DIY picture ledge

Ever hear the saying "your opening a can of worms?" Especially when remodeling or redecorating your home, you are bound to either find something wrong, or completely change your mind half way through the project. Well, after I decided to paint my yellow walls all white, my hallway was looking a little lifeless and needed something to break it up. I decided that instead of hanging my photo … [Read more...]

How to distress a painted brick fireplace

February 10, 2020 by Lori Brasseur Leave a Comment

Learn how to easily distress your painted brick using a spray paint remover product

Years ago I decided to paint my red brick fireplace in our family room. I absolutely hated the dark red brick which seemed to suck all the light out of the room. It was dated and didn't coordinate with anything. So out came the white paint which completely covered the brick and I was a happy camper. The space was instantly lighter and brighter. We'll fast forward a few years and suddenly … [Read more...]

How to finish a pine farmhouse table

First-Why I decided to finish my unfinished pine farmhouse table Before we get into how to finish a pine farmhouse table, I want to give you a little background of why I decided to finish my unfinished table. Many years ago my son, who was dabbling in furniture building, built me a small wood plank table. This was made to hold my very large guinea pig page. Well, because I am so impatient, … [Read more...]

DIY Magnetic Bulletin Board

DIY magnetic bulletin board with magnetic chalk board, cork board, and dry erase board

As part of my room redesign, I wanted to replace a combination bulletin board, that I made a few years ago. My grandchildren use this to play school. This board gets used a lot, but it isn't exactly an attractive area in the room. So I decided to make a combination DIY magnetic bulletin board. I really wanted to give the board less of a juvenile look. Plus, incorporate the farmhouse style … [Read more...]

How to build a Catio with PVC pipes

June 4, 2019 by Lori Brasseur 30 Comments

image of 2 cats playing inside a custom built catio or cat enclosure

The reason I decided to build a catio with pvc is because a couple of years ago I built a wooden cat enclosure, or catio, for my indoor cats. But, after a few years of storing it outside during the winter, it started to rot and get moldy. When I first built it I was afraid of sealing it in fear that the cats would chew on it and get sick. So, I took my chances and time took it's toll. I … [Read more...]

RV Renovation…Farmhouse Style

April 24, 2019 by Lori Brasseur 4 Comments

RV renovation into a farmhouse style

Who in their right mind would do an RV renovation on a new travel trailer? ME! Have you ever gone shopping for a new RV or camper trailer? Notice they all have the same 80's style interiors. I don't understand it. They hire designers to choose the finishes, so why they are still designing with tans and browns? The lighter grays and whites are so popular right now. … [Read more...]

Monogrammed Art From A Thrift Store Tray

August 6, 2015 by Lori Brasseur Leave a Comment

Monogramed Art

I found this old mirrored tray at the thrift store and decided to turn it into a monogrammed art piece for over my bed.  It was very plain, painted bright white, and kind of boring. And I was looking for something to hang over my bed in my master where I just repainted and thought it would be nice to have something personal instead of a generic piece of art. … [Read more...]
